When is the Black Ops 6 Season 2 release date? The first season reload of Black Ops 6 and Warzone arrived at the end of last year, spinning up the annual content cycle in style. Following a loaded content drop with season start, Season 1 Reloaded brought with it a huge new Zombies map, a winter event, and more. Suffice it to say, a tantalizing precedent has been set as we look to Season 2.

If you’ve already uncovered the secrets of the latest Zombies map, Citadelle Des Morts, or have had your fun with all the Black Ops 6 modes that dropped throughout the season, then it’s time to look ahead to the FPS game’s next update. Here’s everything we have on the Black Ops 6 and Warzone Season 2 release date so far.

Black Ops 6 new season: Season 2 expected timing based on battle pass

Black Ops 6 Season 2 release date

The Black Ops 6 and Warzone Season 2 release date is confirmed to arrive on Tuesday, January 28, 2025.

While we already expected this would be the release date given the end date of the Season One Battle Pass, Treyarch confirmed the Season 2 release date, along with a new Zombies map, in a recent blog post published on ‘115 Day’.

Confirming the name of the next Zombies map as ‘The Tomb’, Treyarch writes: “The Tomb drops at the start of Season 02 on January 28.” Of course, a new season brings more than just a new map for Zombies mode, but 115 Day is specifically related to Treyarch Zombies due to Element 115, a bioweapon used to create zombies in Call of Duty lore.

Black Ops 6 Season 2 content

As with previous seasonal updates, Black Ops 6 Season 2 is expected to bring the following content types:

  • New battle pass
  • New Operators
  • New weapons
  • New events
  • New maps
  • New modes
  • Balance changes

Black Ops 6 Season 2 anti-cheat update

During the December 2024 Ricochet Anti-Cheat update blog, the CoD team announced major improvements to the existing system will be implemented during Seasons 2 and 3. These will include changes to Ricochet’s kernel-level drive alongside “brand-new server-side protections.”

“After a series of updates our systems are in a better place today across all modes,” the devs state, “however, we did not hit the mark for the integration of Ricochet Anti-Cheat at the launch of Season 01 – particularly for Ranked Play.”

Though ban waves have increased in frequency, leaderboard changes have been synchronized faster, and replay investigations have been expanded, it’s clear there’s still much work to do to get the system up to where it needs to be.

Little information has been released about the new Zombies map so far, but we know that it takes place underground in an old excavation site. The archaeologist responsible for the dig, Sir Archibald Fotherington-Smythe, went missing and was never seen from again – but you might find out why once you get down there.

Naturally, a bunch of new Zombies easter eggs and a new Zombies Wonder Weapon are set to be added for the new map, with the Tomb Wonder Weapon being a “reimagined Wonder Weapon inspired by our past,” though that’s all Treyarch have revealed on the matter so far. We also know that The Tomb takes inspiration from BO6 fan-favorite map Liberty Falls in terms of size and replayability.

With the Black Ops 6 Season 2 release date en route, make sure you level up your favorite Black Ops 6 weapons before the new ones demand your time and attention. Some are even included in the best Warzone loadouts list, so it’s even more important to get the job done when you can.
