What is the Alien Isolation 2 release date? Authentically expanding on a non-videogame IP is tough – the Alien series has had more games than most over the years, with many falling flat. These outings into the Alien universe don’t seem to grasp what makes the original movie so great; slow-burn storytelling and an atmosphere you could cut with a knife lead the way for the most horrifying game of cat and mouse you’ve ever seen.
Luckily, Alien Isolation read the brief. Nailing both the look and feel of the original movie, it tells the story of Amanda Ripley – daughter of Ellen – as she attempts to learn of her mother’s fate. There are plenty of hazards to overcome on Amanda’s journey, but the horror game never jumps the shark with the true threat; you’re being stalked through the claustrophobic interiors by a single xenomorph, with her only real survival option being to run and hide. We have our guess for the Alien Isolation 2 release date, as well as some information from Al Hope’s anniversary statement.
Alien Isolation 2 release date estimate
We don’t expect Alien Isolation 2 to be released until 2026 at the earliest. The game is currently in “early development” according to Alien Isolation director Al Hope – he announced the existence of the sequel on the tenth anniversary of the original.
Hope and the rest of the team wanted to capture the “atmosphere and terror of the original 1979 movie masterpiece” with Alien Isolation, and that they have “heard your distress calls loud and clear.” In a roundabout way, it seems that the reception and fervor from the fans for Isolation has spurred the development of a sequel.
There isn’t too much to go on as-is, but we’re desperately looking forward to stepping back into the shoes of Amanda – assuming she got picked up from her little space walk. Whatever happens, we’re here for it.
Alien Isolation 2 is likely years away, so in the meantime, why not play some of the best PC games out right now? You can also wishlist some of the most exciting upcoming PC games – many of which will be out sooner than you think.
