Big Windblown roadmap teases New Game Plus, extra modes, and 1.0 release

Dead Cells developer Motion Twin lays out the Windblown roadmap, as the co-op roguelike continues going through Steam Early Access.

No two Windblown runs are the same. With so many weapons and movement tools at your disposal, it delivers some of the most kinetic action I’ve ever experienced, and I’ve been eagerly waiting to see what developer Motion Twin is doing with it next. As with the studio’s last game, Dead Cells, Windblown started in early access, and now we know what to expect while waiting for 1.0.

Motion Twin has been taking Windblown from strength to strength since its launch. Last year’s Windblown Revenge Update completely reworked the game’s Sudden Death mechanic after players deemed it unfair, and now 2025 will be packed with a lot of new material.

First up, Motion Twin says it has an Endless Mode planned for the roguelike game. If you play the new game mode you’ll be able to continue your run after beating Incubator, keeping your current build of weapons, power-ups, and stat boosts. Endless Mode can stack infinitely, so if you want to embrace some true chaos (and get some bragging rights) this will be the mode for you.

As for the rest of 2025, Motion Twin is adding a new biome towards the end of the first quarter (possibly around March) to give us even more variety. More information on what it’ll entail will be released soon.

Motion Twin’s teaser image also indicates that we can expect some sort of New Game Plus, more character skins, weapons, gifts, and possibly even affixes throughout 2025. The mention of a new boss is also underlined, so I’d wager that Motion Twin already has some big ideas for that. Lastly, it looks like Windblown’s full 1.0 launch is planned for sometime in 2026.

Motion Twin clarifies that this roadmap can shift as needed, however, so certain features could end up changing or being moved. “The development of Windblown is incredibly dynamic, and is heavily influenced by the community,” the developer writes. “This means that we may add things into the plan, or even delay or remove some plans in favor of something more pressing.”
